Description:
Title: Early Childhood Educator
Position Status: Full-Time
Salary: $20.40 - $29.64 per hour
Start Date: October 2, 2024
Location: Fall River YMCA Early Learning Child Care Centre

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 1-year experience working with young children an asset
- Entry Level Early Childhood Certification or a Level 1-3 Early Childhood Education Certification
- Detail oriented, self-starter and organized
- Excellent time management and teamwork abilities
- High quality relationship building skills
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve and remain calm in an emergency
- Works independently and as a team in decision making, conflict resolution and delivery of quality programming while maintaining strong relationships with the children, families and community.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement YMCA Playing to Learn Curriculum in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Child Care Centre to foster maximum development for each toddler’s potential and growth
- Plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments for toddlers that support emotional and social development, while understanding and encouraging positive self-concepts
- Use a variety of teaching techniques that include, but are not limited to, modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
- Effectively communicate concerns and suggestions openly to the Director, the Assistant Director, and co-workers
- Work collaboratively with the team
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Knowledgeable of staffing information and the Child Care Department’s Policies including Behavior Guidance, Child Abuse Protocol, and Confidentiality
- Attend professional development workshops and mandatory curriculum trainings
- Supervise student placements and ensure proper paperwork is completed
- Responsible for program set up, classroom clean up and organization
- Administer and record all children’s medication, plans of action and behaviour charts
- Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with families and the community
- Other duties as assigned by Centre Director and Assistant Director
