Job Title: Early Learning Division Language Access Coordinator (MA3) Somali
Location: Olympia, WA - Flexible/Hybrid. This position is home-based, however, the selected candidate will be required to meet in person on a quarterly basis and attend meetings and events in-person, as needed.

Salary: $4,865 - $6,539 Monthly

AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT, THE INCUMBENT MUST PASS A DCYF SOMALI LANGUAGE CERTIFICATION TEST WITHIN YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL 5% ASSIGNMENT PAY FOR DUAL LANGUAGE BASED ON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE SOMALI LANGUAGE CERTIFICATION TEST.

We are currently looking for an Early Learning Division Language Access Coordinator (MA3) to provide holistic and comprehensive language access services to families and the early care and education workforce on behalf of Early Learning Division programs, by developing, coordinating, and maintaining interpretation and translation services across DCYF teams for early learning services to strengthen relationships with families, provider community, partners and service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage services related to a strategic language access plan.
  • Coordinate quality control and process improvement projects for the language services.
  • Serve as language access consultant to Early Learning Division leadership, program teams.
  • Oversee the provision of translation and interpreter services, with an initial focus on early learning services.
  • Manage and implement Language access services education and outreach.
  • Monitor translation product quality and ensure compliance standards are maintained.
  • Develop training and education to new employees, agency staff, and community partners about providing meaningful access to language services throughout DCYF.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of interpreter services policies and procedures that are compliant federal and/or state law.
  • Gather anecdotal data based on user experience to inform the delivery of services of DCYF through increasing language access to strengthen relationships with families, provider community, partners and service delivery
