Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Eating Disorders team of our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Directorate.

Responsibilities:

WITHIN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Work within a multi-disciplinary Eating Disorders CAMHS team and provide therapeutic packages of care to children and young people suffering from Eating Disorders and their families, within the defined areas.
Carry out comprehensive assessments and interventions in this population supported by the team within tier 2/3 CAMHS. and hold their own caseload.
Liaise closely with other agencies and professionals and provide consultation when required.
Provide teaching and training to others.
Supervise junior staff where appropriate.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide patient centred care of a complex nature in a variety of settings:

  • work with the specialist nurse to provide on-going assessment, planning,

implementation and evaluation of patient care, ensuring the maintenance of clinical records. Also, to be responsible for developing plans of action, in

conjunction with Specialist Nurse.

  • work with the Specialist Nurse in the management of a case load, working

closely with the multi-disciplinary team, patient, family and any other

agencies.

  • work at times within the community setting, involving close family members where required, with an aim to promote positive change within the family.
  • attend and contribute to core groups, review meetings, child protection

meetings and any other clinical forums requiring key-worker involvement. To provide accurate reports for such meetings ensuring patient involvement where required.

  • work with patients and families who are potentially hostile. To possess

excellent communication skills in order to defuse and contain situations as

they arise

  • participate in teaching programmes for nursing students and other members of staff when required
  • always respect the rules of confidentiality as per policy
  • monitor and report areas of concern.
  • To work within current clinical guidelines and legislation to deliver quality,

evidence-based care
