Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Eating Disorder Worker with a Social Services Diploma to join the Vista Eating Disorders team. Apply today to join our team!
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12, Diploma in Social Services plus one (1) year of recent, related experience working with individuals with an eating disorder or psychiatric illness, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Food Safe Certificate
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
- Knowledge of eating disorders and symptoms.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of clients and staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behaviour and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural management techniques.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to demonstrate and assist clients with activities of daily living.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques
- Basic computer literacy to operate electronic medical record and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
