Description:

The ECG Associate Practitioner role is a foundation clinical role within our healthcare science department and as such the post holder will be expected to be using foundation scientific skills and knowledge to underpin and develop their work. Clinical work will be carried out directly with patients in purpose built dedicated ECG rooms. The post holder will perform, analyse, interpret and compare simple foundation investigative and clinical options, received in routine and occasionally in non routine ways eg ECG Tests on wards and outpatients. The post holder can expect to be following local proformas, workflows and guidelines for patient management, acquired through formal inhouse training.
Work will need to be prioritised and escalated in line with department guidance. The post holder will be expected to make simple foundation judgements, involving basic facts or situations that impact on patients. They will be expected to communicate and work with a multidisciplinary professional team, assist ongoing research projects, and contribute to the educational needs of the ECG team and other professions and participate in the Trust training within the scope of the ECG Team. The post holder will be expected to maintain the patient at the centre of all their decision making processes.
They will need to behave with integrity, honesty and probity, with good scientific practice as their simple foundation, as well as conforming to all of the NHS constitution pledges In addition to clinical work, the post holder will be expected to assist with other responsibilities within the service, such as stock management, helping with training and working with the rota staff to ensure ECG services are covered, as well as attending departmental meetings. A flexible and team player approach would be an advantage. The post holder will have opportunities for personal development and training for the post and will be expected to engage fully with the inhouse competences and training program.
