Moneda Patria Investments is an independent asset manager with 25 years of experience, over USD 9 billion in assets under management and a regional focus on LATAM. We implement an investment philosophy based on long-term fundamental research, with a dedicated investment team of 38 professionals. We have a presence in three countries: we are headquartered in Chile and have offices in Argentina and New York. Our clients include pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, life insurance companies, family offices, high net worth individuals (“HNWI”) and other institutional investors. We invest in companies across their capital structure, seeking highly attractive investment ideas in the region with a country (equity and credit) agnostic approach.
This position will be based in our Santiago, Chile office (fully face-to-face working model).
As a Senior Economist you will monitor, research and present recent developments and perspectives on main economies and financial markets relevant for Moneda´s investment decisions. You will contribute to prepare forecasts and identify relevant risks and investment opportunities in these economies and markets.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform research to help assess the prospects and risks of relevant economies and financial markets (fixed income, foreign exchange, equity, and commodity markets).
- Monitor, report and present relevant economic, political and market developments, preparing weekly reports and monthly presentations for portfolio managers, investment analysts and external clients.
- Prepare macro, financial and commodity price forecasts, developing econometric models.
- Contribute to the process of making investment recommendations and asset allocation.
- Collaborate with the work of other Economic team members, as well as with the work of other areas at Moneda.
- Maintain and develop sources of information and contacts with economists, consultants, government officials, etc., developing models and databases for relevant economies and markets.
- Process and optimize economic and financial information using programming tools.
Requirements
- Desirable 1-2 year for Economic Analyst.
- Minimum 4 years for Senior Economist (experience in macroeconomic research and fixed income/exchange rate analysis desirable).
- Master´s degree in Economics or Finance desirable.
