Description:

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for candidates who are committed to promoting awareness of EDI, with prior experience of delivering EDI projects, and who bring first-rate administrative and communication skills. You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent), with excellent project planning skills, and the proven ability to manipulate, analyse and present complex data.
A collaborative approach will be a key feature of your role, yet you will be required to work independently, taking the lead to progress initiatives and exercising sound judgement and discretion in a complex environment. You will be able to handle a demanding and varied workload, managing your time and prioritising your work effectively.

WHAT WE OFFER

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days annual leave
  • A comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Family leave schemes
  • Cycle loan scheme
  • Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs

The University also runs an enormous amount of social groups and sports clubs for those looking for more than just a great place to work.
We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from BME candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.

APPLICATION PROCESS

If you would like to discuss the role and the department in more detail, please contact Ali Goodall, Head of Faculty Services and HR, via email: ali.goodall@maths.ox.ac.uk. Informal enquiries regarding the application process should be directed to the Recruitment Coordinator (email: recruitment@maths.ox.ac.uk), quoting vacancy reference 175631.
Applicants should read the job description document before writing their application. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of two referees as part of your online application.
Only applications received before 12:00 noon UK time on Friday, 18th October 2024 can be considered.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-organised EDI Officer to work closely with the academic and professional services staff across the department. This is a full-time, permanent post although we would also be willing to appoint at 80% FTE spread over a minimum of four days a week.
This post presents a great opportunity to support a thriving academic department to achieve its vision of a workplace where all staff and students can achieve their full potential. Reporting to the Head of Faculty Services and HR, you will lead the delivery of various EDI projects; engaging in the planning, development and delivery of key departmental activities, at present focusing on the department’s Athena SWAN Silver award, due for renewal in July 2026.
