The Parkland School Division has an Permanent Part-time EA I (0.40 FTE) position avaliable in the My PATH program at Connections for Learning in Stony Plain, Alberta.
Responsibilities include: Taking attendance at check in through Power School Supporting student needs throughout the afternoon activities by: Administering basic first aid Create a daily routine that fosters student growth and development Supervise students during transition from Core to My PATH program, transportation to and from the activities and also during the various activities led by community partners Monitor student activity (washroom and water breaks) and ensuring students are participating safely (shoes are tied, staying hydrated, participating in a safe manner) Implementing strategies to motivate students and encourage participation Monitor student behavior and implement strategies to promote activity engagement and team cohesiveness Observe any developmental, ongoing behavioural, or emotional problems and report them to Program Navigator for follow up with school admin and parents Communicate with students and parents regularly to develop strong relationships Attending monthly one-hour staff meetings Support program instructors with set up, clean up, class management Reporting to the Program Navigator and discussing any concerns regarding participation, behavior, absenteeism, or programming Communicating with program instructors to confirm/update changes to scheduling Assessing student effort, participation, and attitude using tools and training provided Planning contingencies should an activity be canceled or changed Post pictures and videos to social media Update parents on scheduling changes or program requirements Model wellness by participating in physical activity, promoting good nutrition, and leading reflection activities at dismissal time Walking regularly to various community partner locations, or during regular programming. This job requires the person to be outdoors often throughout the year, and able to participate in a variety of physical activities. Researching and attending various professional development opportunities Qualifications Include: Child care experience Attentive and organized Flexible and adaptable Good communication skills Knowledge of Google Suite an asset First aid training an asset Coaching or involvement with youth activity an asset This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check. This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 5543 Hours of Work: 14 hours/week (Friday - 12:25 PM to 3:15 PM).
