Description:

The Education Officer plays a key role in assisting the Education Lead in delivering the education programme at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm.
This role focuses on educational visits, workshops, outreach, and zoo events. Your role will also involve animal husbandry duties where you will be working with the education animal collection. This position reports directly to the Education Lead.
We are looking for someone that can work 3 days per week, Fridays are essential for this role (due to the team’s overall working pattern). Working days will be discussed at interview stage.
You will be contracted to work one weekend day per month, plus bank holidays as per the staff rota. Some out-of-hours work when required (time off in lieu given).

Responsibilities:

Maintain the high quality of existing educational activities on offer at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm.
Sharing the responsibility for teaching educational workshops with the Education Lead.
Delivering outreach sessions (school assemblies, toddler groups, care homes, summer fairs etc) with support from the Education Lead. This may involve some work outside of normal working hours.
Managing and processing school bookings (from initial enquires to booking in and raising invoices) and responding promptly to any enquiries via phone and email.
Supporting the Education Lead in developing and writing / designing educational interpretation.
Feeding, cleaning and looking after the education animal collection; .
Designing and implementing engaging public programmes to enhance visitor experience and deepen the public’s understanding of and interest in the natural world.
Supporting the Education Lead in delivering zoo events to the general public.
Delivering ‘Safari Tots’ parent and toddler group during term time, when needed.
Weekend office cover (contracted to working one weekend day per month) on a rota basis.
Working within a small office environment and assisting with general admin tasks.
