Description:

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Lead components of in-person education programs
  • Create, organize, and prepare program supplies
  • Engage with program participants of diverse age groups, abilities, and backgrounds
  • Assist with program evaluation
  • Attend weekly planning meetings and check-ins
  • Communicate and collaborate with the education team, Forest Park Forever Staff, and community partners
  • Implement proper safety protocols for programs

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma/ GED.
  • Preference given to individuals pursuing a career in a related field such as Education, Child Development, Experiential Learning, Environmental Studies, Biology, etc. Candidates with experience working with diverse community members, such as children and youth, members of the public, and professional collaborations are preferred.
  • The work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.
  • The ideal candidate should feel comfortable completing tasks both in indoor and outdoor settings with varying weather and temperature conditions.
  • This role requires the movement of equipment in preparation for events and programs.
  • The intern should feel comfortable communicating with teammates and the public in indoor office spaces and outdoor settings with varying levels of background noise.
  • The intern will assist with programs in spaces with a diverse material base, such as pavement, woodchips, grass, and with various gradients.
  • The intern should feel comfortable participating in programming and Forest Park Forever activities for extended periods of time.
  • The intern must have a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Frequently works in an indoor office environment.
  • Constantly operates computers and other office equipment.
  • Frequently required to traverse the park over uneven terrain.
  • Frequently lifts and moves equipment up to 30 pounds; occasionally required to lift and move equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
