Description:

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A BATH & NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL VACANCY.

Education Support Packages are part of the Alternative Education offer at YCSW. They are available for young people aged 13 16 who cannot attend mainstream school due to anxiety, mental health difficulties, challenging behaviour and other reasons. In most instances young people will have an active Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Education Support Packages are bespoke packages of support tailored around the needs of the young person with the aim of increasing engagement, achievement and wellbeing. The packages can run alongside an education placement or can be used when a young person needs additional help during a transition between placements. A Standard Education Support Package offers up to 6 hours a week of 1 to 1 support. The primary purpose of the role is to help young people re-engage with education.
The Education Support Service provides a flexible and supportive approach to learning; activities are designed to meet wider learning goals and help the young person develop life skills. As an Education Support Worker, you will hold a small caseload of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work alongside the young person to identify positive activities and develop an action plan, which should inform the work undertaken. Activities can be delivered at our centres or in the community. Examples include cookery, art, music, sporting activities, community visits, support to attend appointments or to complete ASDAN/AQA short courses. Sessions will generally be delivered 1:1 although there is scope to develop small group work opportunities where this is appropriate for the young people involved.
As an Education Support Worker, you will be part of a wider team of professionals supporting the students. In many cases, you may be the principal point of contact for the young person and their parents / carers. Your role will involve liaising closely with other professionals, co-ordinating the young person’s weekly timetable (where appropriate) and attending multi-agency meetings in order to ensure a joined up approach that helps young people to move forward.
