Status

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • a two year post secondary program in a related field
  • a minimum of one year of related experience preferably in an educational environment
  • experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
  • experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
  • proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
  • excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • NVCI, First Aid
    Rate of Pay
    $21.09 - $26.50 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • supporting students in the Opportunity program
  • assisting students who have mild cognitive disabilities and significant academic delays
  • providing support to students with varied needs in inclusive classrooms as needed
  • assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
  • providing literacy and numeracy support
  • providing behavioural management assistance for students with behaviour disorders
  • supervising students at school arrival and departure, lunch and reces
