ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Educational Psychology Service is made up of a team where psychology is at the heart of all aspects of work. We work primarily with children and young people going through the EHCNA process and offer a Consultation Service for those with EHCPs. We are also involved in supporting the work of the Virtual School. We provide training and support in a range of areas, including Emotional Literacy Support Assistants and supervision for school staff and other professionals, for example the early years Area SENCOs.
We work closely with the SEND and AP Team with a focus on offering early intervention and preventative work.
The EPS was highly regarded in the last Joint SEND Inspection carried out by Ofsted in March 2019.
We apply our psychological skills and knowledge to ensure the best possible outcomes and opportunities for children and young people. We work collaboratively with parent/carers, educational setting staff and other professionals working closely with children and young people. We focus on growth, change and development in all aspects of our work.
We are a team of reflective practitioners who value professional development and strong peer support to ensure that we consistently develop and maintain skills and knowledge. As a member of the team, you will be well supported through regular supervision, opportunities to develop areas of interest and collaborative working with colleagues. You will have high quality administrative support to help you in your work. The Council also offers flexible working arrangements and access to high quality IT systems.
The team places a high emphasis on wellbeing, utilising individual team member’s skills, interests and knowledge and maintaining the application of psychology in all aspects of work.
We welcome experienced educational psychologists as well as those who will be completing their Doctorate training this year.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
