Description:

EDUCATIONAL TEACHER TEAM LEADER - TWINKL CANADA (FULLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS)

Location: Canada, 100% remote work-from-home position (You must permanently live and have the right to work in Canada to apply for this position)
Pay Rate: $22.50 CAD per hour (Paid monthly via PayPal)
Contract: 12 Months International Contract (Highly likely to be extended)

The Role:
You’ll be joining a team of experienced Teacher Team Leaders, working flexibly to provide line management support for Twinkl’s thriving Canada market. This leadership team works hard to develop supportive relationships with team members in order to get the best out of them. The Canada team operates in an established Twinkl market but will be seeing rapid expansion in the teacher team over the coming months.
For this role, the majority of your time will be spent between three main activities: communication; performance management; and engagement of the Canada team. Initially, the successful candidate will be needed to take on line management of current team members, and possibly in the future, assist the Country Manager in recruiting and onboarding new teaching team members.
As an experienced Teacher, you will be looking for your next challenge. Leading the Canadian Teaching team. You will guide the team and support them to meet production KPIs and coach and empower your team to be the best they can be. You will keep up to date on brand guidelines, business updates and be highly skilled in engagement and communication, disseminating and delegating where necessary.
Your weekly activity could include the following;

Communication:

  • Keeping to diary engagements wherever possible and being flexible with availability to team members;
  • Being inclusive to all team members, encouraging engagement with online social events at Twinkl;
  • Creating a feeling of safety within the team, so that individuals are comfortable coming to you with difficult conversations & are open to healthy levels of challenge;
  • Building a relationship with the existing Team Leaders to benefit the whole Canada team;
  • Lead and motivate your team. This could include coaching, communicating goals and targets, sharing feedback, leading team meetings, supporting social and wellbeing activities
  • Supporting, empowering and motivating your team to achieve their KPIs, production and career goals
  • Spend time working on existing and new projects that enhance production with the team

Training:

  • On-boarding and training new starters;
  • Encouraging, disseminating or innovating with further training for existing team members.

Wellbeing:

  • Maintaining high levels of wellbeing support for Canada teacher team members;
  • Creatively celebrating productivity and development successes with individuals through the use of quality specific feedback;
  • Developing positive relationships in the team and modelling best practice.

Performance:

  • Creating and maintaining a culture of problem solving and positivity;
  • Tracking and supporting with team member productivity;
  • Creating measurable targets with team members;
  • Making contract recommendations to HR, based on collected evidence of performance;
  • Inspiring, motivating and empowering individuals to go above and beyond;
  • Building on pre-existing line management support provided by previous experienced TLs.

The Canadian Market:

  • Meeting with existing leaders within the Canada team to support them with meeting the customer’s needs;
  • Supporting the Canadian product stand-ups in the engagement of remote workers in scrum, through target setting and communication platforms;
  • Meeting with the Country Manager and any Segment Managers to influence sprint planning;
  • Creating templates for new resource ideas;
  • Supporting the Country Manager in recruitment; reviewing applications, organising tasks, attending interviews.

Our ideal candidate will be going further than line management by working closely with the existing Canadian leadership team, identifying strengths within our existing team. The successful candidate will be vital in ensuring that the ambitious plans for the market become a reality.

  • Content Writers / Editors;
  • Graphic Designers and Illustrators;
  • SEO Executive, SEO Copywriters and Content Executives;
  • Production team members of the wider business.

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Focus on maintaining the best possible levels of wellbeing support and team relationships;
  • Show confidence in identifying team member strengths and areas of curriculum expertise;
  • Work with your Country Manager to support, manage and report on team member productivity;
  • Collect evidence to review the contracts, pay and performance of team members.

We’re are especially interested in anyone who also meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Experience in leading projects within in a school setting;
  • Proficiency and independence of all admin type tasks such as 121’s, daily use of an Output Sheet, Time Sheet, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching in Canada.
  • Experience in leading a team of adults.
