Description:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have a CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent initial teaching qualification
  • Full mastery of English (C2 level) required across all four skills.
  • Experience of working with young learners and/or preparing students for Cambridge exams is an advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you a qualified English Language Teacher with at least two years’ experience looking to develop your skills and career in a well-established school in South Italy? Due to increased demand for courses, we have a teaching vacancy for EU or non-EU nationals who are as committed as we are to providing quality learning experiences for students.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1964, the British School of Reggio Calabria is a private language school which has also, in recent years, branched out into mainstream education with courses in local state and private educational institutions. We are a Cambridge English Platinum centre, and our students value our expertise in exam preparation. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and teacher development, in recent years we also became a CELTA centre.

Responsibilities:

The position involves teaching general English, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and Cambridge main-suite exam preparation classes. While the ideal candidate would be happy to teach all ages from 7 to adult, we will endeavour to match the candidate to classes which best suit their skillset. This is a full-time position, initially running until June 2025, with the possibility of extension from September 2025. The successful candidate will be required to plan and deliver effective and engaging lessons to the students of the school, many of which will be in local state and private-run educational institutions. Teaching is a maximum of 24 contact (in-class) hours per week, with additional hours dedicated to training, development, and other non-teaching duties. The non-teaching hours typically range from 3 to 5 hours per week, with the potential to increase during weeks with reduced teaching obligations. Lesson preparation is done in your own time. Where offsite courses are not within reasonable walking distance of the school, teachers are accompanied from, and back to, school by car. Travelling time is counted as half of a teaching hour, and included in the maximum 24 teaching hours per week.
