Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director to join Suir Engineering.
The EHS Director will be responsible for ensuring the Company complies with all relevant EHS legislation whilst leading and developing a team of EHS personnel across the Group.

Responsibilities:

The EHS Director will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the company’s EHS personnel, programs, policies, and procedures.
This role requires a proactive leader who can effectively identify and manage risk, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in EHS within the construction industry
Strategic Leadership:
Develop, implement, and monitor the company’s overall EHS strategy in alignment with business objectives.
Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure safety standards are met in the business.
Interface with key Clients and Trade partners to build a collaborative approach to the safe and sustainable delivery of projects
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Responsible for maintaining and enhancing our ISO 9001(Quality),14001(Environmental) and 45001 (Safety)Accreditations.
Responsible for co-ordination and documenting change via Change Management.
Ensure compliance with all relevant local and national health and safety regulations
Ensures audits and inspections are completed to identify risks, opportunities, potential hazards and non-compliances.
Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and ensure the business adapts to regulatory requirements.
Risk Management:
Responsible for Identifying and assessing EHS risks within the business.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
Training and Development:
Oversee the development and delivery of EHS training programs for all employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
Ensure training records of Suir Engineering Staff are maintained and available for review.
Co-ordinate the delivery of mandatory EHS training requirements for the business.
Ensure employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work safely.
Promote continuous improvement through safety workshops and training sessions.
Maintain the Suir Way within the EHS Department by conducting monthly reviews with the EHS team and weekly with the Regional Managers.
Responsible for ensuring all staff are aware of the Groups 10no. High Risk Activities and are suitable trained in the procedures.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough documentation and corrective action plans are developed.
Report on safety performance metrics to senior leadership and regulatory bodies as required.
Safety Culture Development:
Maintain and promote the Suir Engineering BBSP ‘Suir Safe’
Promote our EHS performance internally and externally
Foster a positive safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging a proactive approach to EHS at all levels.
Engage with employees, subcontractors, and clients to promote best practices in EHS.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Responsible for continuing on the digitising of existing EHS processes via Autodesk - Audits, regulatory inspections etc.
Maintain accurate EHS records, including incident reports, audits, training certifications, and risk assessments.
Ensure all safety documentation is readily available for inspections, audits, and legal compliance.
