JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview
To join the internal safety and environmental department, we are currently looking for an Environment, Health & Safety engineer for our partner. As an EHS engineer you will collaborate on the EHS policy and the implementation of new EHS software. You will also be responsible for the care systems to be developed within the sites at Ghent.
You will join a culture where ownership, collaboration, autonomy and flexibility are important.
You will work in a broad perimeter with lots of job variety.
You will have room for development and training.
Major Responsibilities
You perform commissioning and risk analyses, participate in the annual action plan, and provide advice on occupational safety, health and welfare;
You investigate dangerous situations, dangerous acts, accidents and environmental incidents. You advise on preventive measures and help follow them up;
You carry out tasks such as EHS rounds, internal audits, training and communication. You help develop internal EHS procedures and assist in their implementation;
You set an example in the organization in the field of EHS by promoting the EHS policy on the shop floor, monitoring and taking appropriate action;
You know the applicable Belgian safety and environmental laws and regulations and apply them in your daily tasks. You follow up the developments within the field of safety and environment;
You increase safety awareness and enhance the safety culture, among other things by addressing and motivating employees to safe and environmentally conscious behavior. You work closely with the various departments in the company;
You build a network with external partners (authorities, agencies, etc.);
You take initiatives to further develop the EHS policy and in this way you contribute to a more safe and sustainable organization.
Environment:
You take initiatives to further develop the environmental policy and in this way you contribute to a sustainable organization.
Care systems:
You are responsible for the implementation and later management and application of the ISO14001 and ISO45001 care systems. This also includes the organization of audit activities.

REQUIRED COMPETENCES & SKILLS

Education:
You have a technical education with at least a professional bachelor’s degree or at least 5-10 years of equivalent experience.
You have at least a Level 2 Prevention Advisor certificate (level 1 is a bonus).
Experience:
At least 5-10 years of equivalent of relevant experience in EHS role or equivalent
Experience in change management
Experience with leading / working with cross functional teams
Experience in setting up EHS systems and software
Capabilities, knowledge and skills:
Able to manage and work cross-functionally, self-driven and results oriented
Good understanding and experience with EHS and ISO systems
Real team player who works autonomously without difficulty and is eager to learn. Excellent listening skills and assertiveness enable you to make contacts easily
Independence, analytical insight, responsibility, accuracy, work ethic, problem-solving skills and assertiveness are your main assets
Very involved, communicative, driven and stress-resistant person who takes up every challenge
Safety is a priority for you and stressful situations or sudden emergencies do not scare you away
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills – Know how to tell the story to the right audience
Experience in Pharmaceuticals / Medical Device industry or equivalently regulated industry preferred
Language(s):
You speak and write Dutch/English fluently
