Description:

This position is responsible for facility Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs. You will work with facility EHS manager to recommend corrective actions to establish regulatory compliance and compliance with corporate EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage documentation requirements to ensure EHS training files are kept organized and up to date.
  • Work on the production floor to observe EHS behaviors and implement corporate EHS policies.
  • Perform site training, maintaining of EHS records, implementing, and updating site procedures and utilizing software systems including but not exclusive to Gensuite for file maintenance.
  • Provide input to Site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager and/or site Operations management on EHS issues.
  • Lead injury and illness tracking, case management along with root cause analysis.
  • Review, approve and conduct risk assessments, including assisting in the coordination of risk reduction projects.
  • Be part of the operations team focused on EHS program development, implementation, and improvement.
  • Assist in modifications of EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct EHS training courses for assigned program areas.
  • Support EHS project completion in assigned areas to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Function as a member of the Emergency Response team; maintain qualifications and support position specific training as well as drills and exercises.
  • Provides new hire safety orientation as needed.
  • Assists in supporting corporate wellness initiatives.
  • Assists in performing accident investigations as needed.
  • Provides first aid and CPR as part of the facility Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of EHS programs consistent with CHG EHS framework.
  • Required to be flexible in shift pattern work.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Associate’s Degree (with 2 years EHS experience)
  • Prior experience with controlled documentation/documentation change management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.
  • Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Prior demonstrated proficiency with a wide variety of chemical/mechanical processes, testing, and/or related six sigma initiatives.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the plant site.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders including but not limited to supervision, engineering, and shop floor associates.
  • Possesses the ability to represent CHG in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated capability of understanding and operating chemical/mechanical processes.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Typical work in office environment and manufacturing plant floor environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times.
