Description:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering and/or five plus years related work experience preferred.
- Professional certification preferred but not required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to EH&S and related compliance requirements with strong attention to details
- Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve regulatory questions, to meet expected timelines for regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead and facilitate projects to conclusion, adapt to changes in the work environment and demonstrate flexibility
- Ability to multi-task keeping company objectives and demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency with regards to responsiveness with addressing any high risk compliance issues, and manage risk proactively
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)
- Personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues), bump hats, and/or safety glasses.
- Regularly required to lift 30 - 40lbs, and up to 50lbs occasionally.
Responsibilities:
Partners with all Lab departments on campus for activities including, but not limited to:
- Processing daily data maintenance of the CISPro Chemical Management Database, including the Potential Peroxide Forming Material tracking system and data entry auditing
- Supporting of CisPro system upgrade and documentation
- Support Chemical Management, Solvent Replenishment and Life Safety Equipment Services.
- Assisting with laboratory compliance and safety inspections of laboratory spaces by documenting inspection findings/action items.
- Data entry and QA of the Safety/Compliance software platforms.
- Reconciliation of inspection reports for all life safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash and safety shower station, chemical spill kits, first aid kits, AEDs, and oxygen cylinders).
- Conducting field quality ‘spot checks’ of life safety equipment inspections.
- Coordinating and scheduling Safety trainings.
- Involvement in Chemical Hygiene Safety Program.
- Other duties as assigned
