EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field (master’s preferred). High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in EHS management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to make timely decisions while operating in a fast-paced changing work environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in computer software applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet).
Must be flexible with hours.
Responsibilities:
Inspire a culture where employees at all levels take ownership for safety.
Establish and maintain policies, practices, and procedures that ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
Support and represent Thermo Fisher Scientific in EHS and Quality audits.
Lead ULS Business Continuity Plans for services performed across multiple sites, participate in emergency response drills and training.
Conduct job hazard analysis (JHA) and risk assessments for new tasks, equipment, and high-risk activities to mitigate risks.
Lead pre-job safety planning including risk assessment, the development of JHAs in support of equipment maintenance services.
Facilitate and perform routine site inspections of ULS occupied areas to identify workplace hazards, violations, and program deficiencies for remediation and improvement.
Provide leadership and support for EHS training programs.
Analyze and communicate EHS performance against expectations, communicate feedback, and establish and track required actions to improve performance.
Engage employees in safety initiatives to eliminate or control safety hazards and reduce risk of injury or environmental exposure.
Respond to incidents, conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of CAPAs along with reporting and tracking in the incident management system.
Lead problem solving to address employee safety concerns and implement recommendations where appropriate.
Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and other functions to implement EHS controls.
Champion innovation and practical process improvement in the program.
Use LEAN methodology and tools (Kaizen events, process mapping, benchmarking, and RCA) to drive workplace safety improvement.
Must be present on the floor as subject matter expert in real time to support staff (80/20).
