ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY (EHS) SPECIALIST - LGC ANALYTICAL STANDARDS

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working Full-Time (12 months contract) EHS specialist to join our LGC Analytical Standards team. This position is based at CDN Isotopes in Montreal, QC and reports into the Director, Laboratories and Operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an EHS Specialist, you will have to provide support, coordination and development of environment, health and safety programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diplôme d’études collégiales minimum
  • Connaissance pratique des réglementations pertinentes (c.-à-d. LSST et réglementations, TMD, IATA, 49 CFR, 29 CFR, etc.)
  • Expérience en matière de sécurité, d’environnement ou de conformité avec une compréhension des systèmes de gestion SSE, des normes et des exigences réglementaires.
  • Solides compétences administratives et organisationnelles
  • Compétences en communication efficaces, tant écrites que verbales
  • Maîtrise de MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word et PowerPoint)
  • Posséder la capacité de travailler de manière indépendante et coopérative au sein d’une équipe

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations (i.e. OHSA and Regulations, TDG, IATA, 49 CFR, 29 CFR, etc.)
  • Experience in safety, environmental or compliance with an understanding of EHS management systems, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong administrative and organization skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Possess the ability to work independently and in coordination with the team

Responsibilities:

  • Support Environmental, Health and Safety Programs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS programs including SOPs, policies and training.
  • Participate in the assessment of EHS programs for regulatory compliance and standard processes.
  • Participate in workplace audits and investigation of incidents and concerns.
  • Review applicable legislation, guidelines and codes and inform EHS Manager of applicable changes.
  • Maintain and document compliance with EHS standards and programs.
  • Be the first point of contact for our third-party waste management company and coordinate pick ups. Report waste manifests monthly to LGC.
  • Provide training to the employees for applicable SOP.
  • Monitor the verifications of safety showers and eye wash stations.
  • Be in charge of the 5S program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
