Description:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering preferred.
- NEBOSH certification required.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 to 5 years in an EH&S role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to EH&S and related compliance requirements with strong attention to details.
- Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve regulatory questions, to meet expected timelines for regulatory requirements.
- Ability to lead and facilitate projects to conclusion, adapt to changes in the work environment and demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to multi-task keeping company objectives and demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency with regards to responsiveness with addressing any high risk compliance issues, and manage risk proactively.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is a unique opportunity to join Thermo Fisher Scientific as an EHS Specialist II at our Warrington manufacturing site. You will be at the forefront of ensuring environmental, health, and safety compliance, with a strong emphasis on chemical management. Your role will be pivotal in driving sustainability improvements and supporting the execution of ambitious projects within a world-class team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the timely review of EHS compliance requirements, particularly focusing on chemical management.
- Support alignment and accurate record keeping using the CMMS & Eco Online management systems.
- Provide support in reviewing and resolving blocking issues, critical concerns, and partner feedback related to safety. Collect safety data and prepare reports for monitoring and analyzing team safety metrics.
- Assist in EHS committee meetings by drafting minutes and supporting action planning.
- Attend meetings with EHS contractors and project teams, coordinate logistical aspects, and assist with facilitating EHS improvements as part of NPI’s.
- Manage project-specific training and the setup, maintenance, and archival of EHS regulatory files; ensure that the EHS MS remains audit-ready.
- Take necessary steps to advance sustainability initiatives in collaboration with the site’s Green team.
- Drive EHS excellence by working with functions and value streams across the site to identify and support safety process improvements.
- Support EHS-specific inspection activities performed on-site.
- Provide briefings and toolbox talks on request to teams and support proactive alignment with the site EHS training plan to achieve targets.
