The EHS Systems Manager drives the global EHS standards and requirements for all Stoneridge locations. This individual supports a safety-focused culture by developing, implementing, and overseeing procedures, policies, and best practices that ensure compliance with environmental regulations, EHS risk reduction, and workplace and health and safety industry benchmarks.
This individual reports to the EHS Global Manager and collaborates in close partnership with Regional EHS Managers to deploy organizational EHS standards. In addition, this individual will develop and own the Stoneridge Environmental and Health and Safety Management System and will track compliance with all applicable requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of the Global EHS Management System: Create and implement EHS global requirements, policies, and procedures to standardize EHS practice across the organization and to meet ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
  • Drive the adherence to global standards by conducting on-site assessments (evaluate the site’s progress on implementing the Global EHS Management System).
  • Drive the implementation of visual standards for Environmental and Health and Safety for all manufacturing sites.
  • Lead internal ISO 14001 and 45001 internal audit team.
  • Standardize and deploy management system for Safety Data Sheets compliant with the Global Harmonized System.
  • Standardize global process for compliance with EHS regulations. This process will include updating legal register, partnering with legal resource to understand applicability of regulations, and linking evidence of compliance for each requirement outlined in the legal register.
  • Monthly tracking of legal compliance by site and tracking of corrective actions in Global Dashboard.
  • Drive practices for the reduction, safe handling, and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Participate in manufacturing and product design reviews and provide approvals as it relates to the adherence to the design in EHS process.
  • Partner with Global Procurement to outline environmental, and health and safety requirements for the supply chain including but not limited to packaging specifications, ergonomic requirements, and environmental practices.
  • Design and document minimum building security requirements and process for all Stoneridge sites.
  • Provide EHS related training on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS related area including chemical or industrial engineering.
  • English and Spanish proficiency required.
  • 5 years of experience managing EHS project teams or cross functional projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards and frameworks such as CDP, SASB, TCFD and reporting platforms included but not limited to Eco Vadis, and NQC SAQ.
  • Experience implementing ISO 14001 and Iso 45001 standards.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience on implementing and sustaining management systems in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Practical experience with external audits and continuous improvement of the Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems. Experience leading implementation of ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Experience in leading EHS teams and projects in a matrix and global organization structure.
  • Ability to drive employees, initiatives, processes, and projects without direct authority.
  • Ability to gain extensive knowledge of site-specific EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Experience on legal requirements for the handling of hazardous chemical materials, including handling and disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Extensive experience on emergency preparation and response.
  • Proficient in safety behavior-based observations.
  • Strong analytical skills to prioritize areas of opportunity and risk from the Incident Reporting Database and the behavior-based observation.
