Description:
This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and require regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi-cultural environment.
The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate (GCS) – Buildings and Logistics Department (BLD) – Real Estate Development Division (RED) – Project Controls & Contracts Unit (PC&C), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2025)
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
- Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Civil Law, Construction Law, or Quantity Surveyors
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the use of standard office and reporting tools (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Interest in construction project and readiness to be exposed to construction claims
- Good analytical and excellent writing skills
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Gain knowledge in a specific field of law (Construction Law)
- Understand standard forms of contracts issued by FIDIC(Fédération Internationale des Ingénieurs-Conseils) including their ‘golden principles’
- Become familiarised with pertinent (yet important) matters such as:
- roles of parties engaged in a construction project (Engineer, Employer, Contractor);
- industry structure (main contractors, subcontractors, nominated subcontractors & suppliers etc);
- essential project management terms including programme of works;
- design options and risks of design;
- methods of procurement and procurement routes;
- Draft standard and bespoke responses;
- Manage and administer claims under the contracts.
