    The Client Benefits Division has responsibility for the assessment of client’s eligibility for compensation and income support.
    Within the Processing Teams, staff investigate and determine claims for benefits for accepted service-related injuries and diseases under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA), the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA) and the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA).
    We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with strong leadership, management and communication skills to lead the work of the section in line with established procedure and timeframes. The successful applicant will require excellent relationship management and communication skills and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a diverse, geographically dispersed service delivery team and manage section activities to deliver a broad range of functions
  • Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Department in high level discussions and negotiations
  • Provide quality and timely reporting on feedback on the Department’s services, identifying trends to inform continuous business improvement and innovation
  • Prepare reports, submissions, position papers, briefings and complex correspondence
  • Provide strategic direction to the section, including the development of business plans, strategies, budgets and priorities and monitor work flow and performance
  • Contribute to the Department’s strategic reform and operational business transformation, working collaboratively to achieve further high levels of consistency and integration across activities
  • Work collaboratively to establish the Branch’s work priorities, develop and assign available resources to achieve specified outcomes
  • Develop, coach and mentor employees, manage performance, conflict and identify training needs
  • Role model behaviours which are inclusive, collaborative and encourage curiosity and innovation
  • Liaise internally and externally on politically sensitive issues.
