The Opportunity
Keyano College is actively seeking an e-Learning Curriculum Design Specialist on a 2 year term with the possibility of extension for their Centre for Teaching and Learning. Reporting to the Director, Academic Experience, the e-Learning Curriculum Design Specialist will play a crucial role in academic success and development within the College. They are responsible for supporting faculty in curriculum and program development; specializing in educational technologies, ensuring programs meet the highest quality standards and partnering with faculty to provide a transformative learning experience to students. The eLearning Curriculum Design Specialist also plays a key support role in the College’s development of strategic direction for educational technologies.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities

Curriculum/ Program Development

  • Support the development of curriculum and programs ensuring they meet quality standard guidelines across multiple delivery formats.
  • Advise on instructional design grounded in UDL principles and outcomes-based education.

-Evaluate development and provide feedback and guidance to subject matter experts (SMEs) engaging in curriculum and program development. -

  • Ensure effective teaching methodologies are incorporated into curriculum and programs.
  • Support the development of program outcomes and course outcomes.
  • Stay current with trends in the field of development and evaluative practices.
  • Stay current on the Government of Alberta’s program approval process.
  • Support programs areas in the program approval and change processes to ensure they meet the Government of Alberta requirements and standards.
  • Program Quality Assurance
  • Support the development of program quality assurance review and the development and facilitation of a standard program review cycle.
  • Maintain accurate records of program review cycles to support internal PQA as well as external accreditation processes.
  • Collaborate with and provide feedback/support to program areas regarding their program quality review.
  • Collaborate with CTL & Library members to conduct quality assurance reviews on credit and non-credit courses to support quality programming.

Faculty Training/Development/Guidance

  • Provide training and professional development opportunities to faculty to regarding pedagogical trends and advancements in teaching and learning, educational technology, classroom technology, EDIB, AI, etc. through various methods such as workshops, lunch and learns, Teaching and Learning Days, asynchronous resources, 1:1 support, etc.
  • Plan, promote and facilitate a regular schedule of ISW training for faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate on the development and facilitation of faculty orientation/onboarding.
  • Support faculty with instructional strategies and technology.
  • Mentor instructors.

Education Technology

  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in educational technology.
  • Provide training and support for educational technology within the classroom and in various areas of development and quality assurance.
  • Administrator of learning management system which includes planning and managing annual LMS upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues in learning spaces, such as classrooms.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations regarding the College’s strategic direction for educational technology.

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning through research and participation in relevant conferences and workshops.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, program advisor meetings, committees, and other collaborative activities.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Teaching and Learning and Research policies.
  • Represent the department at institutional events and engage in outreach activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of pedagogical trends and advancements in the discipline.
  • Foster positive relationships with industry partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a related discipline.
  • Experienced individuals with bachelor’s degrees and / or professional designation may be considered.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence and a passion for student success.
  • Demonstrated excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to engage in research and support faculty.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with community stakeholders and supporting college-wide initiatives.
  • Strong communication and presentation, Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Facilitator qualifications considered an asset.
  • Commitment to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in the learning environment.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development, extra attention given to educational technologies.
  • Experience with developing, delivering and supporting faculty with various course delivery modes such as in-person, online and hyflex.
  • Strong technical skills.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing teaching experience and curriculum development experience at a post-secondary level, though we encourage candidates with related professional and or educational requirements to apply.
