Description:
ELECTRICAL ASSISTANT - SA STEELWORKS
The Group has an Electrical Assistant position available at SA Steelworks. The successful candidate will provide support to the Electrical Department by providing general assistance to electricians which includes site preparation and clearance, maintaining general site tidiness and other general duties as directed by electricians. The role is situated at our Branch in Airport Industria, Cape Town.
The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Team Leader.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric Certificate
- Relevant Qualification e.g. Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills or provide proof of experience in the electrical industry.
- 2+ years of relevant working experience
- Able to work in a pressurized and demanding environment
- Must have your own reliable transport
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to work overtime and standby as required
- Being Proactive
- Using your own initiative
Responsibilities:
- Provide general assistance to the electrician, including work on installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Assist with general electrical work and preparation as directed.
- Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unload and check deliveries as directed.
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustments or repairs; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, laws, working practices and health and safety.
- Liaising with the line manager and other site workers and performing jobs as and when they are required, in accordance with contract/agreed requirements and within agreed time limits.
- To ensure compliance with agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety
- To maintain accurate worksheets ,records and documentation associated with your work
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organization and/or its clients/customers.
- Meet individual targets and contribute towards electrical team targets.
- Contribute towards the smooth running of the team.
- Adhere to all organization policies and procedures, including those relating to hygiene, respect for other team members, time keeping and flexibility.
