Scope:
The Electrical Design Group works closely with the Electrical Task Force Engineers to support the detailed design of the electrical power systems required for various types of complex industrial plant facilities. This includes preparation of the designs necessary to specify, locate, install and interconnect a wide variety of electrical equipment and components.
All design and engineering work is performed in compliance with Fluor standards & practices and applicable Codes using the latest 3D and other design software platforms. Practical experience is gained through short-term field assignments during which time the designer assists in systems checkout and testing. Electrical Designers on a project work directly for the Design Supervisor who is in turn under the direction of the Project Electrical Lead.
Electrical Designer Responsibilities:
- Performing 3D modeling using Smart 3D (S3D) and utilize other electrical system design software such as SmartElectrical (SEL), DIALUX and Fluor proprietary software to support the preparation of the electrical drawing deliverables and associated material take-offs including but not limited to:
o Hazardous area classification plans, single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, substation equipment layouts, lighting & small power layouts, grounding layouts, cable tray layouts, power & control cable schedules and calculations, panel schedules, interconnections wiring diagrams, electric heat tracing isometrics, electric heat tracing heater schedules, electrical heat tracing location plans.
- Designers are involved in electrical bulk material requirements and material take-offs using automation software and spreadsheets
- Opportunities are provided for electrical designers to become familiar with, and to become competent in dealings with:
o Complex electrical systems and controls for large motors, generators, switchgear and motor control centers, as well as interact with other engineering disciplines like mechanical, process, structural and control systems in a project setup.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Graduating with a Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Equivalent in 2024/2025.
Qualified candidates must possess strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Required to have good working knowledge of 2D CAD drafting and are required to work in a computer-based 3D design environment. Previous experience using CAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation 2D and Intergraph 3D is a definite asset, but in-house training is available.
