Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. The EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) Design Engineer will be responsible for vehicle side electrical wire harness design and integration. You will interact with internal and external electrical component engineers to ensure that the harness efficiently meets device requirements and seek ways to improve harnessing and EE architecture. You will be hands on with labcar and vehicle builds as you support bring-up and troubleshooting of vehicle. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of EDS designs for next generation Model e products.
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing EDS Designs in an automotive or similar industry (ie. Aerospace, Complex Medical Device, etc)
- 5+ years of experience using 2D & 3D EDS Tooling (ie. Vector Preevision, Mentor Capital, Zuken, etc)
5+ year of experience in a mass production setting launching new productsStrong Electrical Engineering fundamentals
Preferred Requirements :
- Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products and vehicle prototyping
- Familiarity with efficiently handling EDS complexity
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
- Experience with instrumentation of prototype vehicles in a controlled lab environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvementExperience deriving cost, manufacturability, reliability and failure modes tradeoffs from based on specific designs
Responsibilities:
