Job Description
AECOM Belgium is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer/Technician to join our Design Team. In this role you will function as Electrical Design Engineer and become a member of the Multi-disciplinary Project Delivery Team reporting to the Head of Engineering. We are looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background, who share our enthusiasm and determination, to support our expanding workload.
The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services on a wide range of projects.
Within this role you coordinate amongst others the design and permitting trajectory, following all end-to-end stages and act as the bridge between Design Services and Construction Services on project level.
As Electrical Engineer, you design and calculate new technical installations or ensure that the design done by external parties or teams from the abroad design hubs is in accordance with local codes and practices. Within the preconditions of the Client, you translate specific requirements and wishes into a functional design of a future-proof installation. In this position, you will blend innovative problem-solving with the fast-paced environment of managing multiple concurrent projects. You work closely with modelers and have many internal and external contacts with clients, construction partners, consultants and suppliers.

The main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing and leading the design work of projects according to the agreed safety, quality, scope and time.
  • Being responsible for the design activities associated with the Electric Charger Deployment Program (EV).
  • Carrying assignments to completion with considerable independence in accordance with project objectives, professional standards, policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing the preparation of very high-quality construction documents on both ground up and renovation projects.
  • Working with senior staff to produce technical solutions throughout design process.
  • Providing and supervising technological and technical input within the Multi-disciplinary team.
  • Leading the project in preparing robust and exemplar project information in close collaboration with our Global Design Service teams in Bucharest/Spain/South Africa.
  • Formulating the functional and technical project specifications for construction.
  • Showing thorough knowledge of construction costs.
  • Carrying out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety file.
  • Attending site during construction phase if necessary, to ensure construction is in accordance with specifications/drawings.
  • Carrying out safety assessments of the design.
  • Maintaining communication with the Project Manager during the duration of the project.
  • Execute Technical Due Diligence (TDD) on selected projects.
  • Performing design and specification reviews on designs executed by AECOM design centres.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technician or equivalent qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a team-based practice with all phases of project development on from concept design through construction documents and construction administration
  • Knowledge of national/international standards and regulations (IEC, NEN) international and industry best practice standards employed in the design of large-scale projects
  • Capable of assuming the technical leadership role, working with multiple project teams
  • Sound knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Good understanding of BIM and other digital design tools
  • Able to write specifications
  • Ability to contribute to construction cost
  • Familiar with researching, preparing and presenting technical presentations and reports
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Multi-site environment
  • Strong verbal and graphic communication skills
  • Client interface experience
  • Experience managing small to midsize teams
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills in French or Dutch and English, both verbal and written
