Job Description

Purpose of the role:

• In line with the Energy Division’s strategy and goals, to enforce the Project Execution team (in Italy and more general related to EMEA area); the main tasks include the execution of projects at various stages, from the sales proposal to project execution.

Reports to: Country Manager
Responsibilities and deliveries

Working side by side with project teams also in a leadership position to execute project duties in most efficient way including typically:

• feasibility studies
• due diligences
• lender and owner’s engineering
• contractor’s engineering
• engineering advisory service
• various coordination tasks
• knowledge of basic design for generator and transformers, including tests and fault analysis
• ability to perform cost evaluation for electrical systems including HV substations and HV connections (overhead lines, underground cables)
• ability to perform, manage and check calculation reports (load flow and short circuit, stability studies, earthing system, lightning system, insulation coordination, protection selectivity and setting)
• ability to perform site surveys in HV substations and power plants
• ability to manage detailed design activities (e.g., arrangement of HV substations, transformers and switchgear rooms, cables and cable ways, earthing, lighting, lightning) through external engineering companies
• ability to check detailed engineering documents (protection trip matrix for generators, transformers and HV system, schematic diagrams, functional control diagrams, protection setting tables)
• ability to write and check Tender specifications for electrical systems and technical purchase specifications for electrical components.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Competences in electrical power systems for thermal power plants and renewables (wind and solar), HV substations and transmission lines, battery energy storage systems, grid codes, energy markets.

Personal qualities

• Strong spoken and written Italian and English (company’s business language)
• Additional languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, or German are a plus
• Able to learn and use engineering software tools, run simple economic models and to write professional reports.
• Excellent engineering and analytical skills, convincing written communication
• Able to work under pressure and in national or international teams
• Active and open-minded attitude
• Good command of the use of common software tools
• MS Project skills are highly regarded
• Ability to withstand a very busy desk with parallel activities
• Excellent communication skills to ensure a smooth communication with client’s organization and within the project team
• Desire for continuous business improvement and personal development
• Readiness to travel including temporary relocation at client locations and working in other AFRY office locations
