QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
• Must either hold or be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Access.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER

• Experience in using Linux and DOS operating systems;
• Knowledgeable in networking and wireless communication protocols such as TCP, RTP, VoIP
• Knowledgeable in the hardware product lifecycle including definition, requirement analysis and design, implementation, validation and support.
• CAD skills using OrCAD or Mentor Graphics based tools;
• FPGA skills in Verilog or VHDL would be an asset;
• Relational database experience would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills are required, both oral and written;
• Detail oriented with strong analytical skills;
• Good team working ability and self-motivated with a desire to learn.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design for new products to ensure quality standards and functional objectives are met.
• Troubleshoots electrical devices problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently.
• Resolves day-to-day technical problems within production environment to minimize disruption.
• Participates in technical preparations for new product development and implementation to ensure new products meet the required specifications.
• Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Completes drawing designs as required to facilitate the engineering process.
• Confers with engineers, customers, vendors and other stakeholders on existing and potential engineering projects or products.
