We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Electrical Engineer within the Engineering and CAPEX team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and have experience in designing, analyzing and installing various electrical systems and components. This role will involve working closely with other engineers, project leads, and contractors to ensure the integrity and safety of projects. This position will be Monday-Friday. Preference will be given to Labrador West residents, however, FIFO from our St-Johns office will be considered.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or confirmed Canadian equivalent)
  • The candidate must be a registered P.Eng with PEGNL, or able to attain registration in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • 5-7 years experience in mining or other heavy industrial environment with focus on electrical upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously

Responsibilities:

  • Support operations through continuous improvement of electrical equipment and systems
  • Troubleshooting electrical failures and root cause analysis.
  • Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, and systems
  • Analyzing electrical data through the use of PI historian
  • Conducting field investigations to assess project requirements
  • Coordinate procurement and installation of electrical equipment and instrumentation modifications; ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and appropriate specification.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s and VFD’s; reading and interpreting electrical engineering drawings and documents
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Organize and lead tasks of projects, estimating material, labor, or installation costs.
  • Working with a variety of technicians, contractors, and engineers.
  • Review and certify that electrical work has been built following established standards and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.
