The Opportunity
Our Canada Operations Technical Support team is looking to add an Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Specialist, based out of the Regina, Moose Jaw or Swift Current, SK area.
Reporting to the Manager, Operations Specialists Mainline, the EIC Specialist will focus on natural gas compression equipment reliability for TC Energy’s gas pipeline systems in our Heartland and Echo Valley operational areas. There will be ~25% travel within the area, mostly day trips with occasional overnights depending on business needs.
What you will do
- Provide technical support to field teams, engineering and regional management to ensure the safety and reliability of assets
- Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of new equipment / assets in the compression, measurement and pipeline fields
- Act as the Subject matter expert (SME) for the maintenance of equipment used for natural gas transportation including analyzing and making recommendations to enhance and add value to applicable preventative maintenance tasks & integrity plans to optimize the reliability and availability of equipment and assets
- Monitor and analyze the performance of the equipment and assets, and make recommendations related to the effectiveness, functionality and/or performance of equipment
- Promote and provide the standardization of equipment, maintenance functions, and consistent application of procedures
- Be the key Liaison with internal Engineering, Turbomachinery Fleet Management, Operations Reliability, and Project teams
- Perform cost benefit/cost analysis using analytical tools
- Assist Regional stakeholders and planning teams in the development and scheduling of O&M and Capital projects related to regional facilities, (including project identification, work scoping, and work justifications)
- Conduct annual facility health assessments for regional facilities
- Lead/participate in the execution of root cause failure analysis
- Mentor, coach and support Operations technicians
- Initiate lead and rollout of new processes and procedures ensuring implementation meets needs and requirements as well as increasing efficiency and profit. (i.e., Management of Change Process)
- Influence the design, construction and operational setup of new assets
- Identify and share best practices (Investigate and share new processes and procedures, technologies, and opportunities for improving safety, efficiency and reliability, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical school program Diploma or Degree in Engineering Technology
- 10 years of related experience
- Proven experience supporting natural gas compression equipment reliability
- Strong troubleshooting ability in the compression, measurement and pipeline fields
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to optimize the reliability and availability of Pipeline equipment and assets
- Experience performing root cause failure analysis and benefit/cost analysis
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior operation resources
This position requires candidates to:
- Complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (a record) for review
- This position will involve travel and overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 50% of work schedule during peak work periods)
- Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours, and call-outs as needed
