Description:

Trinity College School is seeking a dynamic and creative Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our facilities maintenance team. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Manager - Facilities Maintenance, and is accountable for the operation, maintenance and repair of campus buildings and facilities. The Electrical Maintenance Technician plans, organizes and conducts general and skilled repair and maintenance work, basic construction and new installations. As a member of a diverse team, the successful candidate must be a team player and strong collaborator, and also have the ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trade certification as an electrician 309A, controls/instrumentation technician 447A, 2nd to 5th year electrical apprentice, or candidates with relevant experience based on the job description provided
  • Candidates with a Building System Engineering Technician or Building Environmental Systems Operator will also be considered
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, ability to use a multi-meter and service electrical equipment
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven hands-on experience in operating, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting systems and equipment in a commercial or institutional setting
  • Building Automation Systems installation and programming experience is considered an asset
  • A certified CFAA fire alarm technician license is considered an asset
  • Experience with security systems, card access, cameras, networking and IT infrastructure is an asset
  • Rink refrigeration and operation experience or willingness to learn
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics; AutoCAD experience an asset
  • Computer literate with experience using software programs of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Valid Class “G” license required
  • Must be willing to provide a criminal and vulnerable sector background check

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve work orders in a timely manner by identifying the issue, correcting the problem and documenting the repair in the computerized maintenance management system
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks and repairs on various building equipment and infrastructure, including electrical distribution systems, lighting controls, fire alarm, automation systems, HVAC equipment, boilers, chillers, central steam generation, plumbing fixtures/equipment, and their related controls, as well as various general repairs across campus
  • Complete various general maintenance tasks across campus such as: framing, insulation, drywall and patching, flooring and ceiling tile installation, trim work, fences and various other related jobs
  • Complete troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and installation of doors, frames, closers, hinges, locks, passage sets, cameras, and access control systems and equipment
  • Perform regular checks and inspections of campus systems and equipment, document system parameters and report abnormal conditions to management
  • Assist in developing preventative maintenance programs, evaluate effectiveness of systems and equipment, and make recommendations for improvement to ensure maximum service life
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, schematics or other specifications
  • Compile and maintain all information and documentation relevant to all completed work
  • Recommend and maintain inventory of spare parts
  • Ensure that all work is performed in full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, relevant codes and established safety standards
  • Assist with mechanical repairs, event set-ups and grounds/snow removal tasks when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
