Description:
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to oversee and coordinate electrical works from inception to completion. The Electrical Manager will manage the electrical team and all electrical projects, repairs and maintenance secured and delivered by our company, JH Mechanical and Electrical Services. The role will suit someone who has a background in managing and delivering electrical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget, and who has managed electrical teams in the past. Consequently, the role demands line management experience, initiative, exceptional time management skills and the ability to always meet tight deadlines. The job also entails liaising with clients regarding the electrical work, working with the estimating manager to price and secure the works and to manage the delivery of all phases of the projects; therefore, excellent communication skills is essential for the role.
KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Experience as a Qualified Supervisor
- Qualified or working towards a Higher Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services Engineering or in Project Management
- At least 2 years’ experience of tendering, securing and managing small, medium and large projects within the M&E Industry
- Proven ability of leading contract/project management meetings with clients on behalf of the company
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH Legislation and M&E industry regulations
- Computer literate with good skills in word, excel, email, internet etc and CRM skills
- Trustworthy and discreet
- Highly organised, with the ability to oversee multiple jobs at any one time, often with pressured time frames and across numerous sites
- High level of commercial awareness and a proven track record of driving forward and improving financial and operational performance, including setting and monitoring project and team targets
- Produce KPI reports, evaluate performance and make recommendations for improvements
- Able to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the Head of Operations
- Deputise for the Head of Operations where required
- Manage and report on electrical team performance to the directors
- Price and secure works for the team where required
- Sign off work for invoicing and for payment of supplier/sub-contractor invoices
- Ensure the electrical team are suitable resourced and are trained appropriately to deliver the project pipeline and lead on team recruitment
- Manage all members of the Electrical team and any relevant sub-contractors
- Ensure works are planned and executed on time and within budget
- Manage the call out rota for the electrical team
- Lead as the QS for the business and ensure all electrical paperwork is verified, legally compliant and in line with industry best practice
- Manage the assets assigned to the team (ie: vans, i-pads, plant & machinery)
- Ensure materials are ordered in line with project specifications, securing best prices at all times
- Ensure all works undertaken is H&S compliant (in line with company, HSE and CDM guidelines) and that staff are briefed on any H&S matters, or any industry / HSE updates
- Lead on all communications with clients, keeping them up-to-date on project developments
- Ensure any project variations are agreed in writing and are costed and managed appropriately
- Ensure O&M manuals are provided to the client in a timely manner
KEY TASKS:
- Prepare quotations and develop and secure the pipeline of electrical works working with the estimating team and other JH-ME staff
- Plan, secure and lead on electrical work submissions
- Negotiate electrical contracts, including liaising with legal if required, to mitigate contract risks to the company
- Review the team resource requirements and lead on recruiting to deliver the works won, where relevant
- Complete site surveys prior to works commencement
- Undertake pre-start meetings with the client
- Set up a programme of works for works
- Set clear targets for the work to be undertaken and brief staff on the works to be done
- Directly manage a team of electricians, other staff and sub-contractors who undertake work;
- Manage the call out rota for the team, ensuring there is cover 24-7-365 days a year
- Issue and manage pre/post/job specific RAMS, working with the QHSE ensure all works undertaken is H&S compliant (in line with company, HSE and CDM guidelines) and that staff are briefed and trained on any H&S matters, or any industry / HSE updates
- Manage a training programme for team & staff development, working with the Office & HR Manager
- Schedule work for the team on the CRM and keep the company CRM up-to-date for all assigned jobs
- Ensure all job cards and project paperwork is checked and is compliant
- Ensure best value on materials purchase undertaken by the team
- Produce quotes and secure orders for additional works, where relevant
- Must possess practical, productive and electrical skills with adequate technical supervisory knowledge so as to work on their own proficiently and carry out electrical installation and testing work without immediate supervision.
- Must apply a thorough working knowledge of the National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, of the current I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations, of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Electricity Supply Regulations, Installations (i.e. Regulations 22-29 inclusive and 31), of any Regulations dealing with Consumers’ installations which may be issued, relevant British Standards and codes of practice, and of the Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
- Ensure all work is signed off prior to invoicing and ensure all relevant paperwork, reports and relevant certifications are supplied along with the invoices.
- Manage all assets assigned to the team, ensuring they are kept fit for purpose and reducing unnecessary costs to the company
- Support the management team with the retention of existing clients and continuous growth of the business
- Deal with client queries in relation to the projects being delivered and subsequent work undertaken
- Manage any job disputes, representing the company positively and protecting its interests
- Monitor job performance and ensure both company KPIs and client KPIs are being met, and report into the directors on project team performance
- Complete inspections of work on a regular basis and provide feedback and training to staff via operational meetings/one-to-one to improve performance, where relevant
- Work with the directors to drive forward agreed company priorities and assist with the continuous development of the company as we grow from strength to strength.
