About the Role
We are looking for a proactive Electrical Engineer with over 3 years of experience in the building services industry to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and the ability to manage projects from conception through to completion. You will be responsible for designing electrical systems, conducting site surveys, and liaising with clients to ensure that project requirements are met on time and within budget.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Ideally to Master level.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in building services electrical design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Trimble, Dialux or Relux, and design software relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical designs and reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Relevant industry certifications or membership with professional bodies such as CIBSE or IET (or working towards it).

KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Design: Develop electrical layouts for commercial and residential buildings, covering power distribution, lighting & Lighting Control systems, and Life Safety systems.
  • Site Surveys: Conduct independent site surveys to assess existing systems, gather technical data, and create detailed reports and schematics with actionable recommendations. Experience in design of lighting, CCTV, telecoms, and fire alarm systems.
  • Client Liaison: Ability to confidently present design proposals and reports to clients, explaining technical aspects in clear, non-technical terms as well as ability to liaise with developers, architects, contractors, and designers.
  • Technical Drawings: Use AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software to create accurate schematic and layout drawings of different stages of Plan of Work.
  • Project Management: Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and other team members to ensure timely project delivery, adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Compliance: Ensure designs meet UK regulations and other industry standards and guidelines such as LET Wiring Regulations, CIBSE guidelines and BSRIA guides.
