Within VIVO we are currently recruiting for an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer who will have the prime responsibility for the practical implementation and operation of the MOD JSP375 Safety Rules and Procedures.
Reporting into the Area Manager, you will mainly cover sites in the Midlands and South regions, however, at times, you may be required to travel extensively throughout the North of England as the business requires.
This role will see you accept responsibility for the practical implementation and operation of JSP375 to support the effective and timely delivery of Additional Works, planned and response maintenance, reducing the number of corrective actions raised and close existing Corrective Actions within agreed timescales, and support project work as directed by management and confer with the Billable Works team to ensure that all works are completed to the required standards.
You will be required to assess the competence of Skilled Persons for appointment to ensure suitably qualified and experienced operatives are directed to relevant tasks and review experience and performance regularly, produce high quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements and, where required, issue safety programmes and Permits to Work and carry out Plant Room Inspections for all Sites you are responsible for.
As part of your role you will provide professional and technical support and advice to the VIVO operations site team, helpdesk, Supply Chain, DIO and end users, recording all tasks against the appropriate assets in the CAFM system (Maximo) and ensure all documentation relating to jobs is completed, recorded and distributed in a timely manner.
Additional responsibilities include;
Managing cost and stakeholder expectations through excellent communication and sound commercial decisions to ensure value for money.
Liaise closely with Senior Engineers and take ownership of personal training plans, familiarisation, and knowledge.
Working with all stakeholders to support the management and mitigation of contract risk.
Contribute to the delivery of and the production maintenance schedules IAW SFG20, Forward Additional Services Plans and Statements of Need across the Service Delivery Area.
What you’ll need to do this role
First and foremost, you must be an experienced and appropriately qualified Electrical or Mechanical Engineer, with QCF Level 3 or 4 in Electrical or Mechanical (Boilers & Pressure Systems) or HVAC or Mechanical Building Services. Confined Spaces and/or Asbestos tickets would also be an advantage.
You will have the ability to work to and achieve targets and key performance indicators, make sound and timely decisions, using technical knowledge and practical experience and are able to to influence and negotiate effective delivery within the remit of the VIVO contract.
It is important that you are also able to build strong relationships with local MoD personnel and the end user to ensure excellent delivery of the VIVO contract and build and maintain effective collaborative relationships within the contract to achieve benefits of joint value.
This role will include Planning, directing and controlling activities so you will have experience supervising site operations and managing staff in the appropriate disciplines.
You will be someone with the ability work on your own initiative to solve problems and make decisions.
As this role will require travel it is essential that you hold a clean, valid UK driving licence, and be willing and able to travel to sites anywhere in England.
This role will involve performing overtime when required to support the business and partake in area ‘out of hours on call’.
It is desirable that you have experience of operating within either an MOD/Defence environment.
You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.
