ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- At least 10 years relevant site based experience in a Electrical Construction and Protection systems role in power transmission or related industry
- Team Player
- Strong communicator written and oral
- Organised, methodical and diligent
- Strong Microsoft software skills
- Able to utilize knowledge, experience and good judgment to weightings of the ongoing activities and proactive to find out the opportunities and use to the favour of the project.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Degree level Electrical engineering qualification
- Experience of working on remote based construction sites in remote Middle East locations
Responsibilities:
- Creating a safe and secure workplace by conducting safety inspections, reviewing safety protocols, and providing training to employees on hazards in their workplaces
- Monitoring electrical systems to ensure they are functioning properly and resolving issues as needed
- Maintaining a safe work environment by monitoring work progress and inspecting construction sites for hazards
- Managing a team of construction workers who are installing new wiring or repairing existing systems
- Estimating materials costs and labor hours to complete projects
- Working with architects and engineers to design electrical systems for new buildings or renovations
- Ensuring that safety regulations are followed during construction to prevent fires or electrocution hazards
- Evaluating electrical systems to determine if they are functioning properly or need repair or replacement
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure that electrical work is completed efficiently
- Monitor the Sub-Contractor’s resources and productivity, and report out status, risks and issues
- Familiar with:
- Current and voltage transformers to step down the high voltages and currents of the electrical power system to convenient levels for the relays to deal with
- Protective relays to sense the fault and initiate a trip, or disconnection, order
- Circuit breakers or RCDs to open/close the system based on relay and auto recloser commands
- Batteries to provide power in case of power disconnection in the system
- Communication channels to allow analysis of current and voltage at remote terminals of a line and to allow remote tripping of equipment.
- Work with Construction Manager, Project Manager, to insure the safe compilation of the project
