Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an Electrical Technician for NZ Steel, you will be responsible for monitoring plant and equipment condition, collecting data to analyse and will ensure the necessary corrective actions are implemented.
Working closely with the Plant Maintenance Engineer and Reliability Engineers you will provide technical support regarding the installed equipment; you will coach other maintenance personnel involved in inspection or execution functions and will assist with breakdowns.
The Technician is a key participant in the maintenance management process and is a prime source of advice in the planning and scheduling of maintenance and calibration activities.
This position will ensure a reliable maintenance strategy is maintained for the site’s laboratory equipment.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Along with great communication and the ability to problem-solve to be successful in this role you will need to have recognised Trade Qualifications in both Electrical and Instrumentation along with previous exposure working in a heavy engineering industry, being able to carry out isolations would be advantageous.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous; VFD’s, PLC’s; Gauges; Cranes; Laboratory Equipment such as Shears, Weighers, Calibration Systems; Environmental Gauge Maintenance; Milling Machines, Grinding and finishing equipment, testing equipment (e.g., tensile, hardness, bending machine, spectroscopy).
With a high degree of responsibility, you will need to be confident to work independently, as well as have the capability to plan, organise and delegate responsibilities to others when called for.
This role works 8-hour days, Monday to Friday and is based at our Glenbrook site which operates 24/7, from time to time you will be required for call outs and overtime
