About Us: STAR Group is a privately owned electrical, communications and maintenance contractor specialising in electrical, data and communications, high voltage, audio-visual, engineering and wholesale services.
STAR Group is on the lookout for skilled individuals to complement our existing team and contribute to the success of our projects in Wollongong and the Illawarra region of NSW. We are currently seeking expressions of interest for various trade-related positions with an electrical-based skillset.

Your Opportunity: Joining STAR Group presents a fantastic opportunity for Electrical Trades People to work with our Wollongong Branch on a variety of projects across the region. We value individuals who take ownership of their work and are dedicated to delivering exceptional results for our clients and the business. As an Electrical Trades Person, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting site attendances to complete a wide range of electrical jobs.
  • Carrying out installations for electrical and data communications with a focus on quality.
  • Identifying and resolving electrical and data communications faults when necessary.
  • Completing tasks and paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Strictly adhering to safety standards and procedures.

About You: To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A valid Electrical License and trade qualifications (Essential).
  • Registration as a Communications and Data Cabler with endorsements (Preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills for technical fault-finding.
  • Experience in a commercial environment with a commitment to safety standards.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team and provide support to team members.
  • A track record of meeting tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work with attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience We Are Seeking: For the Electrician-based role:

  • Hold a valid Electrical License.
  • Experience in delivering Electrical installations in the construction industry.

For the Communication-based role:

  • Previous experience in delivering Communications installations in the construction industry.
  • Required Telecommunications accreditation (ASIAL telecommunications cabling license) and preferably Cert III along with any vendor-based training and Fluke training certification.
  • Strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to coordinate on-site staff, subcontractors, and other contractors to ensure project success.

In addition, we seek candidates with:

  • Strong written communication skills to complete reports.
  • Experience with safety requirements and health and safety processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to interpret drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and proactively resolve issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
