Description:

OVERVIEW:

Assists skilled craftsmen in the performance of their craft duties by performing supportive type chores as directed by the craftsman.

EDUCATION:

All first-class Helpers shall exhibit the competency of the “Contren Learning Series” through Level I and meet the relative S&B job description for Helpers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of nine (9) months as a Helper in a refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or similar plant construction or maintenance, performing the work described herein. Must maintain state licensing (Journeyman/Apprentice) as required per company policy. Must read and understand safety instructions, signs and labels, be able to follow instructions, both verbally and written, and pass a craft-specific test.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Please use bulleted list)

  • Primarily to assist the journeyman on all work activities.
  • Assist in staging materials and necessary tools to execute each work activity.
  • Assist in layout and measuring of materials for installation.
  • Assist in carrying, measuring, cutting and treading aluminum and galvanized conduit and fittings for installation.
  • Assist in carrying, measuring and pulling wire into conduit, cable tray.
  • Assist in installing and supporting cable tray and other conduit supports.
  • Assist in wiring, checking electrical motors.
  • Attend STEP meetings and supports company safety standards.
  • Insure all necessary tools are retrieved from the tool room on a daily basis to support the days specific activity.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
