Responsibilities:
- Read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints and other technical documentation.
- Install and assemble railway vehicle (car body shell) components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
- Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems and components installed in the railway car.
- Install and repair railway car parts such as electrical harnesses, piping, air valves, HVAC, compressors, traction box etc.
- Modification and repair of the electrical and mechanical aspects for the propulsion and braking systems.
- Repetition of mechanical and electrical work such as gluing, fitting, crimping, soldering cabling, drilling, etc. to complete the railway vehicle.
- Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
- Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
- Remove and replace defective parts and components such as wires, relays, doors, windows etc.
- Assist in the testing of electrical and electro-mechanical components using test equipment such as multimeters and perform calibration for doors to ensure product specifications are met.
- Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Interact with co-workers, quality inspectors, team leaders, supervisors, and managers daily.
- Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.
