Description:

NextStar Energy (NSE) is a joint venture between LG Energy Solution and Stellantis. NextStar Energy will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begin production at the site on over 200-acres of land on Twin Oaks Drive near Banwell Road.
The manufacturing facility is targeted to have an annual production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrode Process Engineer to join our team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electronic/Electrical) is required.
  • Working experience in a manufacturing or production setting, preference is given to those with experience in a battery manufacturing setting.
  • 5+ years of experience in continuous improvement or manufacturing in a highly automated and/or automotive engineering environment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office 365 skills, including Excel, Word, Power Point, Microsoft access
  • A self-motivated problem solver that is able to troubleshoot and disciplining documentation of findings and apply their hand-on experience based on automotive and industry standards using their mechanical and engineering knowledge.
  • Willing and able to travel and train abroad for up to 6-12 month upon hiring
  • Legally authorized to work in US / Canada

Responsibilities:

As a Process Engineer who received intensive 6-12 months training, you will be able to do following but not limited:

  • Able to train, develop and educate other technician in local sites.
  • Compliant with health/safety/environmental/fire regulations and 3R5S standards.
  • Perform DOE Execution and optimal specification derivation for process condition through Parameter standardization and control plan establishment/revision.
  • Prepare, process, revise and update process documents (PFD, PFMEA, CP)
  • Improve chronic defects and process capability for major quality items.
  • Perform 4M Process and other Verification tests in accordance with EC Table, and evaluate the results and consult with related department then make revision and share the information through systems.
  • Root cause analysis and solution to provide improvement
  • Conducting internal and external customer audit and also respond to all quality related issues with customers.
  • Establishing, revising, updating PFD, PD Manuals
  • Perform Production release and process quality check after PD/CM/Model changes
  • Qualified candidate (s) for this position will have opportunity to be sent to company sponsored training plan for 6-12 months abroad.

For duration of the 6-12 month, the employee will be working closely with our expert Production Technician through mentoring programs.

  • Will train, develop and gain knowledge and skills in battery manufacturing and Lithium Battery from incumbent technicians.
  • Obtain Hands on experience working in battery manufacturing production and understanding, diagnosing and investigating issues that may arise from production, equipment and inspection.
  • Collaborate and learn with internal teams to learn different sectors in technician fields: Production| Equipment| Inspection
  • Communicate and analyze production issues and root cause issues with engineers and technicians team to find resolutions.
