Electronic Engineer Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs technical engineering work development and implementation of computerized electronic equipment or telecommunications systems; performs related work as required. Performs installation, diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment such as security recording equipment, door controls, fence alarms, fiber infrastructure, safety devices and controls, cabling, switches, phone system, building fire alarms system and others.
Assists in resolving operational issues through written and verbal communications and other technical abilities while adhering to DOC/ CCF policies and procedures. Will supervise incarcerated individuals assisting with the tasks when and where appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of two years of formal training in electronic engineering technology, and three years of technical experience in electronic engineering work;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five years (thirty semesters of equivalent hours equals one year).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority, certain employees in this class may be required to obtain a Fire Sprinkler Installer and Maintenance License in accordance with Chapter 100D, Iowa Code.
