Surface Technology International Ltd (STI) is a specialist Contract Electronics Manufacturer, serving world-class customers in high-reliability industries by providing electronics design and manufacturing solutions in both printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and full box-build manufacturing. STI provides a full set of manufacturing services, from concept design through prototyping, production to complete box build including thermal vibration and full product test. STI also provides full lifecycle support – spares, repairs and long-term obsolescence management.
We currently have a very exciting opportunity as a Rework-Repair Technician who will be carrying out BGA rework using IR and forced air reflow equipment. To repair and modify customer PCBs to quality and industry standards.

The Rework-Repair Technician role will involve:

  • Reworking / repairing PCBs in accordance with a schedule to IPC-7711, IPC-7721 Class 3
  • X-ray inspecting of built assemblies to ensure quality of product
  • Liaising with and supporting internal and external customers to ensure PCBs are built to the required customer and industry standards
  • Working offsite at customer premises as required to complete projects
  • Complying with all 5S activities as required

For this role you will need:

  • Ability to work to written instructions and bills of materials
  • IPC certifications are required
  • Experience in rework / repair is required
  • Experience in use of forced air convection and IR equipment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • High concentration levels
  • Excellent level of dexterity
  • Highly flexible and proactive approach in order to meet required quick turnaround times
  • Able to respond to changes in demand and meet tight deadlines
