Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Electrophysiology / Cardiac Rhythm Device Technologist to join the Electrophysiology Laboratory team at Vancouver General Hospital. Apply today to join our team!

As an Electrophysiology / Cardiac Rhythm Device Technologist you will:

  • Report to the Patient Services Manager, Cardiac Outpatient, the Electrophysiology (EP)/Cardiac Rhythm Device Technologist assists the Cardiac Electrophysiologist in the performance of electrophysiology lab procedures including electrophysiology studies and ablation.
  • Set up and operate specialized equipment for the physiological data recording system and related computers, programmable stimulators, mapping system, and various generators for ablation procedures.
  • Assist with sterile table preparation, and patient care at the table pre/post procedure, as requested by the physician and/or nursing staff.
  • Perform device analysis and programming for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) patients.
  • Assist physician during implant procedures and programming individual devices during implant.
  • Perform techniques relating to Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, Holter, cardiac rhythm device monitoring, and other types of diagnostic cardiac equipment.
  • Provide interpretations, analyses and test/summary reports as required.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from a recognized program in Cardiology Technology, successful completion of an advanced certificate in Electrophysiology Technology, successful completion of an advanced certificate in Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology plus one year’s experience with programmed stimulator, geometric cardiac mapping systems, and cardiac recording systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist (CSCT) certification exam. Eligible for membership with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC).
  • Eligible for certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or Certification with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Exam (IBHRE) as a Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS).
  • Eligible for certification with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Exam (IBHRE) as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current relevant techniques, methods and procedures.
  • Advanced ECG interpretation and cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) and to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
  • Demonstrated ability to operating a 3D mapping system.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
