This role is for a Contract Manager of the Elevated Guideway (EG) contract of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project (ECWE). ECWE is a proposed rapid transit line in the Greater Toronto Area that extends the current ECLRT further west from Mount Dennis to Renforth-Eglinton Station. The EG contract is a $300M CAD construction contract and consists of a 1.5 km elevated guideway in a highly environmentally sensitive location with many challenging stakeholders. The construction contract for EG was just signed and detailed design and construction is happening Arup was commissioned by Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx (Mx) in April 2020 as Technical Advisor for the ECWE.
The Contract Manager will join the ECWE Technical Advisor team (Arup TA Team) in Toronto, Canada. The Contract Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team in the design and construction oversight responsibilities. This work involves oversight of detailed design and construction of the Elevated Guideway. On the project, the Contract Manager will report to the Arup TA Team Project Manager. Detailed design submissions started in Q1 2024 and construction in Q4 2024. Construction is expected to be complete in 2028.

  • Identifying the appropriate resources necessary to deliver the tasks above
  • Develop and Manage task budgets and change management
  • Ensuring that the team is delivering the work products necessary to achieve the project schedule
  • Interfacing with the client, stakeholders, the contractor and adjacent projects.
  • Leading Arup TA Team inter-disciplinary reviews (IDRS) as needed
  • Delivering quality deliverables within project budget and schedule

Responsibilities:

IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • Over 20 years’ experience in infrastructure engineering/advisory
  • 10 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in design management for large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on heavy civil projects in an urban environment
  • Proven record in delivery of large multi-disciplinary planning and/or design projects
  • Experience with design, procurement and construction of major infrastructure projects
  • Experience in working for both prime clients (Owners) and Design and Build Contractors in the delivery of major rail projects
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of project and client team organizations, with excellent team and client relationship skills.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng) or already a P.Eng in Canada.
