Job Description

As a Embedded Firmware Engineer for Rockwell Automation, you will work with senior engineers.

  • You will develop software that communicates to other parts of the product or system through APIs, services or protocols.
  • You will be also collaborate with Hardware Development Teams to understand requirements and produce creative solutions to ensure testing earlier in the design process.
  • You will write automation software in Python to work with units under test, test equipment, instrumentation, and documentation systems.
  • You will directly apply technical skills to assigned tasks, having some complex features. Using software design techniques, procedures and criteria to complete a sequence of related engineering tasks (i.e. investigate, develop, test) following our quality guidelines.
  • You wil participate in peer reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation.
  • You will perform unit or functional testing of developed software to ensure correct operation per functional requirements and compatibility with other components in the system. Apply that quickly to hardware targets and collaborate with the hardware teams to ensure operations.
  • You will improve software development capabilities by keeping up to date with current trends in software development practices, technology use and development tools.
  • You will also collaborate with others through mutually supportive professional relationships, open and direct communications.

You will report directly to the Manager located in Katowice, Poland. You will work with the team in a hybrid system (3 days in the office in Katowice).
Requirements/Qualifications:

You need to have

  • 3+ years of experience with embedded hardware and programming languages (C/C++, Python).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a Computer Science emphasis.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging hardware.
  • Demonstrated competence in object-oriented design, and the use of an object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience automating tests and visualizing test results.
  • Excellent collaborator with a team-first attitude.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Communicative English that enables collaboration with global team.
  • Experience with the use of embedded software development tools such as in-circuit emulators, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
