We are hiring a Embedded Software, Technical Manager with a strong background in product design and manufacturing to join the Schneider Electric Prosumer NAM team in the Richmond, BC location (Hybrid 2 times a week at the office). This role emphasizes the need for technical leadership, project management skills, and a strong background in embedded software development.
This R&D team is focused on designing the next generation of electro-mechanical solutions to serve prosumers in their residential storage and solar needs. You will collaboratively bring high quality and innovative designs from concept to the customer.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in embedded firmware development, including hands-on experience with programming languages like C/C++ for embedded Linux or other POSIX compliant operating system.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards successful project delivery.
  • Deep understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex firmware issues.
  • Experience with firmware development tools, debugging techniques, and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Promotes and embraces the Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile (Scrum) methodologies

    The compensation range for this full-time position, which includes base pay and short-term incentive, is $130,000-$190,000 for candidates who are B.C. residents. Our salary ranges are determined by including roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of embedded firmware engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of embedded firmware solutions, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software architects, and product managers, to define firmware specifications and system requirements.
  • Drive the firmware development process from concept to release, including firmware design, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Define and implement efficient development methodologies, tools, and best practices to optimize firmware development processes.
  • Manage firmware project schedules, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and successful project outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proactively proposing solutions to ensure project success.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in embedded firmware development.
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors, managing relationships and coordinating firmware-related activities.
